ABOUT GABRIELLE
Gabrielle, known by her Haida name Jaadaa Kuyaas, is an artist whose work draws deeply from her cultural heritage. Jaadaa Kuyaas, meaning "precious girl" in English, was a name given to her by her late great-grandmother and serves as both a personal and spiritual connection to her ancestors and her art. She honors the legacy of her Haida roots while embracing a contemporary artistic practice that bridges both Indigenous past and present. Gabrielle received traditional training and apprenticing with several Haida artists who strengthened her skills in seamstress work, weaving, and formline art. As a multidisciplinary and visual artist, she blends traditional practices with modern portraiture drawings and fashion, creating work that honors her heritage while exploring new forms of expression.
Born and raised in Seattle and now based in Los Angeles, Gabrielle holds a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, which has enabled her to navigate both the creative and business sides of the art world. She currently works as an Art Producer & Relations Manager for an Indigenous nonprofit, where she helps facilitate art that drives narrative change to disrupt the invisibility of Native peoples and promote accurate representation. Gabrielle’s dual expertise in art and marketing empowers her to engage in meaningful work that uplifts her community and fosters social transformation, both in her professional life and through her artistic practice. Open to freelance work & art commissions. Free lance includes project management, creative director work, relations/influencer management, art production.
